Nicque Marina is an actor, content creator and recording artist from Houston, TX. She creates comedy content based on anime, Marvel, and other popular fandoms; she has garnered a following of over 1.6M on TikTok, as well as over 60K on Instagram and 440K on YouTube. She lives in the New York City area where she is signed as a recording artist under the indie label VEMEntertainment.
She rapidly grew to popularity on social media in 2020 when she began posting short parody skits on TikTok based on her favorite anime shows and Marvel movies. She also began creating comedy content based on Avatar: The Last Airbender, Hamilton, Disney movies, politics and other various fandoms. She was brought on as a host at Anime Expo Lite 2020 and has collaborated with partners such as Sony/Funimation and the Center for Popular Democracy. She is currently on the nominating committee for the 2022 NAACP Image Awards and is a featured guest at Los Angeles Comic Con 2021, speaking about creators of color and how they can own their space. A PTSD military veteran, she also uses her platform to bring awareness to mental health.
In 2021, Nicque began creating content based on Marvel shows on Disney+. Her Falcon and the Winter Soldier skits caught the attention of MCU actor Sebastian Stan (“Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier”) who shared one of her skits on his Instagram on the day of the show’s finale. Her work has also been acknowledged by MCU actors such as Asif Ali (WandaVision) and Atwanda Kani (Black Panther). Nicque cites anime and especially Marvel Comics as profound influences on her life. She began reading Marvel Comics, particularly Spider-Man, at Barnes & Nobles as a child living in poverty. She and her now husband initially bonded over their love of Marvel Comics and the Infinity Gauntlet comic while in high school. Incidentally, they started dating the year the Marvel Cinematic Universe began (2008) and would later watch Infinity War and Endgame in theaters as a married couple, coming full circle. Nicque credits Captain America: The Winter Soldier as the movie that gave her the courage to leave the military and pursue other dreams. She speaks often and passionately about characters that have helped her in overcoming trauma, anxiety and depression such as Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes, Stephen Strange, Wanda Maximoff and Thor.
Her most notable project has been a collaboration with Sony Pictures/Marvel to promote the movie Morbius by playing the new social correspondent for The Daily Bugle on TikTok. Nicque produced, co-wrote, and acted in a series of 4 skits for this project. Nicque will be seen in the short sci-film Infinity System coming out in 2022.
Some of Nicque’s additional skills include: jazz/classical clarinet, piano, ukulele, hip hop and heels (dance)ballet, and martial arts (hand-to-hand military combat training, green belt in tae kwon do).
